Process for Creating an Infographic

What’s involved in creating an infographic? Everything starts with establishing the purpose of the infographic and what you want to achieve with your target audience. It’s also crucial for us to have a clear picture of this audience. This will be clarified during the project’s kick-off (the creative session or briefing).

From this, we define the message. The objectives and the target audience significantly influence the style and design choices. The look & feel and tone of voice are decided accordingly.

Information Analysis

Next, we gather the information that needs to be included in the infographic. This can be anything from research results to statistics, predictions, and so on. This data is organized and prioritized to clearly identify the main points to communicate.

Structure & Interaction

This is the point where the process for creating static infographics differs from creating interactive ones. For non-interactive versions, we determine the structure of the infographic and invite your feedback.

For interactive infographics, we start with interaction design. User experience (UX) and the degree of interaction (UI) are critical in this phase. We discuss the UI/UX design thoroughly with you to ensure the infographic’s user-friendliness.

Sketch, Visual Design & Finalization

After establishing structure and usability, it’s time for sketches and wireframes. We ensure that these align perfectly with the branding of your product, company, or organization. The goal is to make the infographic seamlessly integrate with your other communication and/or marketing materials.

The sketching phase leads to a visual infographic design: the visual blueprint of your infographic. Once approved, the static infographic can be finalized and delivered. The interactive infographic then enters an intensive phase.

Finalizing an interactive infographic involves a ‘development & implementation’ phase. Here, different elements are made clickable. Implementation also means extensive testing. Once this is satisfactorily completed, our infographic creators deliver the interactive infographic.
